Climate Change Methods 2 Week 12

  • The big question addressed in lab, and a description of what you did.
What is and the affect of Climate Change?
- We did a jam-board to write down our notes about "Before the Flood"
- We looked at NASA's website and saw differences from now and back in time.
- Our weather overtime affects our climate.

- We looked at average rainfall from about 100 years ago to now.
- We did a study on goldfinches in Iowa and if heat and precipitation affect their lives.
  • A description of what you learned in Thursday's lecture:
We had a learning demonstration.
  • Answer questions about the weekly textbook reading:
  • What did you learn?
The difference between weather and climate.
The affects of the 2008 University of Iowa Flood.
Because of the hot weather, farming may last longer but use of pesticides to keep crops growing increases.
There are more droughts and precipitation because of climate change.
  • What was most helpful?
The graphs that show hottest days in different years along with the graph about precipitation. We did this is lab choosing different parts of Iowa. It is very helpful and eye opening.
  • What do you need more information on?
Calculating our carbon footprint.
  • What questions/concerns/comments do you have?
Comment: I wonder if everyone in the world learned these things along with perhaps watching, "Before the Flood" if there would be dramatic changes. I bet.
