 Week 15 Blog Post: 

What did you learn this week?
We learned about pressure in a syringe using marshmallows and saw they they get all wrily when we take away that pressure and get back to normal when we add pressure. 
We also saw a reaction from baking soda and vinegar that was very cool. We added the two to a bad and saw the bag fill with air as well as staying the same weight even when the substance was changed from a power and liquid to a gas. 
lastly, we learned about observation when it comes to predicting what items are in a sealed case by the noise, magnetism and weight. When we figured this all out we were able to match up with someone else that ended up having the same item as me. 



How can you apply what you've learned to your teaching in the future?
Yes! I will use these activities in my future classroom. They were exciting to me as a college students so i cannot imagine how much students would love them

What are new or remaining questions? 
I am still having a tough time with atoms and bonds of different substances but i am sure i will figure out more as my time goes on.

Methods 2 week 14

  The big question addressed in lab, and a description of what you did. We went over our interviews with elders.  We watched a video called, "The science of Climate change"  During this video we saw the CO2 levels rise and fall throughout the past and now on a constant uprise. Greenhouse gas is a gas that absorbs and then reemits.  We did a simulation looking at greenhouse gasses and its effect.  A description of what you learned in Thursday's lecture. We learned about climate change: Lakes are calm at night because of albedo.   White reflects sunlight. Black absorbs light. Snow reflects more, color absorbs more.   Informed molecules vibrate, trapping energy.   Climate science is all about energy.   A lab that can be done with kids is having different containers that are different colors and seeing which one melts faster.   Albedo is measured 0 to 1. 1 is totally reflective 0 is totally absorbed.   Turf is hotter than natural grass....

Methods 2 Week 5

 Week 5 Blog Post  1. The big question addressed and what you did in lab? How can we design a playground surface?                                             (Not sure if these videos will work but they are our slow motion videos of our experiments!)  We used different material to make a surface for an egg to land and not break.  We used rubber pieces, sand and seran wrap.  It worked from one meter up but broke when dropping at 2 meters. This was because our surface area was smaller, and it had more length to drop creating more energy making it bounce off/ out of the bowl landing on the hard floor causing it to break.  Small light thing hitting big heavy thing stays equal forces.  Forces are equal but thing that is bigger will take it better, EX. big car little car crash, bug hitting a movi...
